Our Mission

To follow Jesus by sharing God’s unconditional love as the Spirit  empowers us.

Our Vision

We will follow Jesus...

  • By being a local Christian church within the United Church of Canada; a community anchor for spiritual exploration and growth where life, worship, knowledge, service and song all contribute to our larger story.
  • By welcoming people of diverse faiths, ethnicities, ages and stages of life, physical and mental abilities, economic situations, sexual orientations and gender identities.
  • By caring for all members with compassion, empathy an joy.
  • By acts of service we will reach out to engage and support our community, the country and the world.
  • By building bridges within our community, as a congregation in the most diverse city in the world.
  • By using our facilities for religious, social, cultural, educational or other programs that reflect our values.

Sue Lynn Chong retired from a corporate career and is now teaching Yoga part-time.  She joined the DCUC Memoir Writing program in 2019.  Sue Lynn had no idea the minister was facilitating the program.  Sue Lyn found our minister and others were so interesting and welcoming that she gradually got more involved at DCUC.  Blind Spots and Eye-Openers is a article Sue Lynn wrote for one of our Wee voice weekly additions about her experiences at DCUC.

Our History

Our congregation is part of The United Church of Canada, a denomination that continues the heritage of our Methodist/Presbyterian and Congregationalist predecessors.  Over the years we have become Canada’s largest Protestant denomination, with more than three million adherents, drawn from every tradition imaginable.
The Donway United Church was formed in the early 1950s in the brand new community of Don Mills, while Covenant United Church-Oriole started life in the 1960s in the Henry Farm area.  Early in the 1990s, the two congregations merged to form The Donway Covenant United Church, which now serves the greater Don Mills area.
As part of our faith journey, in 2014 we formalized our vision to "welcome all" by working with the support of the Affirm United team to become an Affirming Congregation.

Our Team

We are blessed by the staff; Minister Rev. Lorrie Daly-Price, Emily McLean (Church Administrator / Property Manager), Christina (Tina) Faye (Music Director), and our custodian Kim Morgan. This team work together to help us fulfill our Mission and Vision.

Approximately fifty volunteers serve on the church Council and its various committees. Other members and adherents volunteer regularly to maintain the buildings and the landscaping, prepare the sanctuary for worship, act as ushers, greeters and coffee hosts, and support events such as funeral receptions and the annual Fall Sale.

We Care

Our Vision is to care for and develop connections with people both within and beyond our own congregation. You’ll see to the right some of the regular programs underway at The Donway Covenant United Church.

In addition to these events, we also have a Pastoral Care committee who reaches out individually to those in the congregation to celebrate their joys and share in their sorrows. Every Sunday, each of us can also bring forward the names of those we want to include in community prayer at our weekly Worship Service.

Our sermons are thought-provoking, our music inspiring and hospitality welcoming. Both newcomers and regular parishioners often come on their own. Always! Your children are welcome to stay with you in the sanctuary (where the service takes place) or join the our Sunday School Coordinator for music and stories in the Christian Education building beside the sanctuary.

  • Can I get married at the Donway Covenant, or do I have to be a member?

Many people prefer to conduct important family events like weddings in a church. You don't need to be a member, but you will need to speak with one of our staff to discuss your plans and make sure we are the right location for you.

The Donway Covenant would be honoured to be part of your wedding or other important family events such as a baptism or a funeral for a loved one. Whatever your need, the best way to begin the process is by contacting our office at 416-444-8444 or Click here to email

Yes. the Donway Covenant has easy-access entrance to all our buildings.

  • Can my group rent space at the Donway Covenant?

We do rent space to various groups, organizations  and businesses. That makes the Donway Covenant a busy place almost every day and night throughout the week. There is limited space and time slots available. Contact our church administrator (Click here to email) or call 416-444-8444 for more details.

  • Where does the church get money?

We depend on our church family for financial support for the bulk of our expenses. Some people use weekly or monthly envelopes, others our convenient Pre-Authorized Remittance (PAR) Program. The money collected is used to cover our annual operating costs, building maintenance and renovations, and the various outreach projects we undertake each year.

We also receive rent from the various tenants renting our facilities. We hold an annual fund-raising event each fall which draws people from far and wide. Community members, friends and relatives can also donate funds to the church at any time.
