Lorrie grew up surrounded by the warmth and community of The Donway Covenant United Church, where Sunday school and other church programs, played a significant role in shaping who she is today. One of her most cherished memories was watching others read Bible stories from the pulpit, knowing deep down that one day, this is what she wanted to do.
Through her young adult years, she lived in British Columbia, carrying the values and lessons she learned with her. In 2000, she returned to this church that had
always felt like home, reconnecting with the community that helped shape her. She took on the role of ministry with children and youth in a full-time capacity for nine years.
Feeling the nudges to grow in her faith journey she began an undergraduate degree in 2003 and obtained a Bachelor of Religious Education. Upon completion of her degree, and with the tremendous support of her family, especially her husband Steve, she returned to Emmanuel College to further her education in the Master of Divinity Program, graduating in 2013 and served at Heritage United Church in Markham for twelve years.
Ministry has taken Lorrie to a variety of locations and roles over the years including involvement with Toronto Presbytery and more recently North and Central Candidacy Board with Shining Waters Regional Council. Through all of this though, she has always remained an active member of the Don Mills community. In 2002 she took on the role of Administrator for Footprints Summer Day Camp, an ecumenical camp overseen by the four churches around the Donway Circle. She has remained in this position to this day feeling a sense of call to watch children and youth grow in their faith.
In October 2024 she was called back to the Donway Covenant as their minister. She just loves working with the congregation. She is passionate about outreach and pastoral care and it is her desire to ensure that everyone is able to utilize the gifts God has given them as they follow their particular call to ministry. She is always willing to try new things and encourage others to join her and see where God is leading. Above all, through God’s continued blessings, she wants to make a positive difference in people’s lives.
When not at the Donway, Lorrie can be found spending time with her husband Steve, her dogs Charlie and Molly as well as family and friends.

“Emily started working at DCUC in a property manager / administrator role at a very interesting time, in September 2020. Since then, it has been exciting watching the church slowly re bloom with programs and children again. She especially loves the Outreach at the church, including the H.E.N.S refugee program, and the various other good work done in the community. Emily grew up in Don Mills and lives here today, with her family.”
